Looking after it
Recharge it by leaving it in direct sunlight for about an hour every few weeks. Keep it dry otherwise, and do not wash it: water fills the charcoal up rather than cleaning it out.
About this product
Absorbs the smell instead of covering it with another one.
A 200g bag of activated charcoal that you recharge in sunlight rather than replace.
A fabric bag holding 200g of activated charcoal, which absorbs odour and moisture from the air around it.
It covers about 90 square feet, so one bag suits a small office or a cupboard rather than an open-plan floor.
There is no fragrance in it at all. Nothing is added to the air.
It measures 16.5 x 12 x 3.5cm, so it sits behind a monitor or inside a drawer without being in the way.
You recharge it by leaving it in direct sunlight for an hour rather than throwing it away.

Most air fresheners work by adding a stronger smell than the one you did not like. Activated charcoal works the other way around: the surface of the charcoal holds onto the molecules that were causing the smell, so what you are left with is less smell rather than a different one.

That also means it is slow and quiet. There is no spray, no plug and no scent. If you want a room to smell of something, this is the wrong product.

The stated coverage is 90 square feet per bag. In a bigger room you would want more than one, placed near whatever is causing the problem rather than spread evenly around.
Recharging is the part people forget. Charcoal fills up. An hour in direct sunlight drives the moisture back out and the bag works again, and most people do that every few weeks.
It absorbs moisture as well as odour, which is why it turns up in cupboards, car boots and gym bags as often as it does on desks.
Still deciding?
Not sure yet? That is fine.
You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.
Got questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a charcoal air purifying bag work?
Activated charcoal has an enormous amount of surface area, and odour and moisture molecules stick to it. Nothing is released into the room, which is the difference between this and an air freshener.
How much charcoal is in the bag?
200g. The bag itself measures 16.5cm by 12cm by 3.5cm.
What area does one bag cover?
90 square feet. For a larger room use more than one and put them near whatever is causing the smell rather than spacing them out evenly.
Does it have a scent?
No. It adds nothing to the air at all, which is the whole idea. If you want a room to smell of something, buy something else.
How do I recharge it?
Leave it in direct sunlight for about an hour. That drives the absorbed moisture back out and the charcoal starts working again. Most people do it every few weeks.
How long does one last?
Recharged regularly it keeps going for a long time, which is the reason people buy charcoal rather than sprays. It is a consumable eventually, but not a weekly one.
Can I wash it?
No. Water fills the charcoal up rather than cleaning it out. Sunlight is the way to reset it.
Will it purify the air in a medical sense?
No, and we do not claim it does. It absorbs odour and moisture. It is not a filter, not an air purifier with a fan, and not a medical device.
Is it safe around people and pets?
It is a sealed fabric bag of charcoal with nothing sprayed or released. Keep it out of reach of anything that might chew it open, as you would with any small item.
Where should I put it in an office?
Close to the source. Behind a bin, inside a cupboard, near a printer or under a desk works better than in the middle of the room, because it works by contact with the air around it.
Does it help with damp as well as smells?
It absorbs moisture as well as odour, which is why the same bag turns up in cupboards, cars and gym bags. It is not a dehumidifier and will not dry out a damp room.
Is it a warehouse item or a supplier item?
This one is picked and packed from our own warehouse stock, so it goes out on the same handling time as the rest of the order.
Can I use several in one room?
Yes, and in a room bigger than 90 square feet you should. There is no interaction between them to worry about.
Does it need to be near a window to recharge?
It needs direct sunlight rather than a window specifically. Outside on a bright day is quicker than a sunny windowsill, but either works.
How much is delivery on the Charcoal Air Purifying Bag?
Delivery is free on orders of £75 or more. Below that it is a flat £25, whatever you order. There is nothing extra added at the end.
How long will it take to arrive?
5-7 days, after a 24-48 hour handling time. The handling time is the bit before it leaves us, and the 5 to 7 days is the delivery itself.
Is there a faster delivery option?
Not at the moment. Every order goes out on the same tracked service, 5 to 7 days across the UK after the handling time. If you need something by a particular date, email us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it is possible.
Do you deliver across the whole UK?
Yes, right across the United Kingdom. We are an online supplier with no shop or showroom, which is how the pricing works.
Where does the Charcoal Air Purifying Bag ship from?
It is picked and packed from our own warehouse stock. Either way it comes to you with tracking, and you get the tracking number by email once it is on its way.
Can I change my mind after it arrives?
Yes. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we extend that to 15 days under our own policy. Return postage is yours unless the item arrived damaged or faulty, in which case we cover it.
What if it arrives damaged or faulty?
Tell us and we will sort it. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods have to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and if they are not that is our problem to fix, not yours to pay for. Email theteam@customersupport.care with a photograph and your order number.
Do I get a receipt and a tracking number?
You get an emailed receipt as soon as payment goes through, and a second email with the tracking number once the order ships.
What payment methods do you take?
Card payments through our checkout and PayPal. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never stored by us.
What currency are your prices in?
Pounds sterling. Every price on this site is the price you pay in £, with no currency conversion at the end.
Is there a discount code?
Yes, `valued-customer` takes 15 percent off your goods at the cart. It applies to the products rather than to the delivery.
Do you have a shop I can visit?
No. We are an online supplier with no physical shop or showroom, and that is deliberate: the saving goes into the price rather than into a lease.
Can I buy several of these for an office?
Yes, and if you want more than a handful use the wholesale quote page and we will price it properly rather than making you add them to the cart one at a time.
How do I ask a question about the Charcoal Air Purifying Bag before I buy?
Email theteam@customersupport.care and a person will answer you. We would much rather answer a question first than process a return after.
Who are you, exactly?
Home Office Company UK, a division of Caruso Consulting Co Ltd. Our UK administration office is at 33 Queen St, London EC4R 1AP. The company details are on every legal page rather than buried.
Is my order secure?
The checkout runs over an encrypted connection and we never see or store your card number. If anything about a payment looks wrong to you, email theteam@customersupport.care and we will look at it with you.
